Sarah's Story
Meet The Founder Behind Tomahawk Outdoor Clothing
I'm Sarah, founder of Tomahawk Outdoor Clothing.
If there's one thing you should know about me, it's that I've never been afraid of hard work, and I've never been very good at giving up.
I'm a Newcastle lass through and through. The North East shaped who I am, resilient, determined and honest. From a young age I've always been passionate about health, fitness and helping people become stronger versions of themselves.
I studied Sports Science, earning both a BTEC and HND, before becoming a personal trainer in my twenties. Later, I opened my own detox centre, helping people improve both their physical and emotional wellbeing.
Eventually my career led me into social work, where I've spent the last 16 years supporting women and families through some of the most challenging times in their lives. I feel privileged to have witnessed the strength and courage in women, despite all odds, which also inspired my brand.
It's a role I'm incredibly proud of, but one that carries emotional weight. Supporting others every day taught me the importance of finding somewhere to recharge and reconnect with myself.
For me, that place has always been the outdoors.
Finding Strength In The Outdoors
Since I was 19 years old, the Lake District has been my sanctuary.
When life feels overwhelming, the mountains help me reset. The fresh air, the silence and the sense of perspective I find outdoors have helped me through some of life's toughest moments.
Whether I'm hiking with my companion Star, tackling a challenging climb or simply taking time to appreciate the landscape around me, the outdoors has always given me clarity, courage and strength.
Over time, it became much more than a hobby. It became part of who I am.
How Tomahawk Was Born
For years I searched for outdoor clothing that reflected my personality.
I wanted something bold, empowering and feminine. Something that made me feel strong and confident while still performing in challenging conditions.
Instead, I found myself repeatedly disappointed by clothing that felt uninspiring or designed without women in mind.
One day, after hearing me complain yet again, my dad simply said:
"Why don't you create your own?"
At first I laughed.
Then I started thinking.
The more I thought about it, the more I realised I couldn't let the idea go.
I had no experience in clothing manufacture, design or production. I had no roadmap and no guarantees. What I did have was a vision and a determination to see it through.
I invested my savings, committed myself fully to the process and spent the next three years learning everything I could.
There were setbacks, disappointments and moments when I questioned whether I could do it at all.
But I kept going.
And in February 2025, Tomahawk Outdoor Clothing officially launched.
More Than A Clothing Brand
Today I still work full-time as a social worker while building Tomahawk alongside my career.
Every spare hour goes into developing the brand, improving products and growing a community of women who share a love of adventure, resilience and personal growth.
Tomahawk is more than outdoor clothing.
It's a reminder that it's never too late to back yourself.
It's proof that ordinary women can do extraordinary things.
And it's a celebration of the strength, courage and determination that women show every single day.
A Personal Thank You
If you choose to support Tomahawk, please know how grateful I am.
Every order represents someone believing in my journey and the brand I've worked so hard to create.
This business wasn't built by a large corporation or backed by huge investors. It was built through determination, passion and a genuine desire to create something meaningful for women who love the outdoors.
Thank you for being part of that journey.
Sarah
